Advanced Combustion Controller
The W-Squared Advanced Combustion Controlller is a powerful control unit with an FPGA based core for performing high speed calculations. It interfaces 6 cylinder pressures to calculate Combustion Heat Release real-time. The results are instantaneously reported over CAN after each combustion event.
The current implementation of the Heat Release calculation is optimised for speed and can produce the results at a resolution of 0.1 degrees CA up to 18,000 RPM. For each combustion event it reports: IMEP, IMEP Gross, Total HR, CA10, CA50, CA90 and Peak Pressure.
For ultimate flexibility, the Heat Release calculation is supplied as a Simulink model. The included Simulink Template allows the user to modify the model to suit custom needs and to generate the according bit-stream for the FPGA, providing the Simulink and Xilinx FPGA block set are installed. The bit-stream can then be sent to the FPGA’s flash memory.
Only 15% of the available memory on the FPGA is used by the current Heat Release Model, allowing the user plenty of room for specific custom additions.
